Register to Vote
Voting is one of your most important rights as an American. The Ohio Democratic Party strongly urges you to vote in all upcoming elections.
Please keep in mind the following changes to voting rules for future elections:
- Voters must bring identification to the polls in order to verify identity. Identification may include a current and valid photo identification, a military identification, a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, other government document or a voter registration notification that shows the voter's name and current address.
- Voters who do not provide this identification will still be allowed to vote by provisional ballot if they provide the last 4 digits of their Social Security Number.
- Voters who do not have identification and do not have or know their last 4 digits of their Social Security Number will still be able vote vote with a provisional ballot if they sign an affirmation swearing to the voter's identity under penalty of election falsification.
Register to Vote through the Mail
To register to vote by mail, you can call your county Board of Elections and request a voter registration form. Get information from your County Board of Elections.

Register to Vote Online
At this time it is not possible register in online in Ohio. However you can visit the Election Assistance Commission website, download the "National Voter Registration Form" and mail it to the Ohio Secretary of State.

Register to Vote by Phone
At this time it is not possible to register by phone in Ohio. However, you can call your County Board of Elections to request a voter registration form. Here is a list of County Boards of Elections.
Register to Vote in Person
You can register to vote at several places including:
- The office of the Secretary of State of Ohio: 180 E. Broad St. 15th Floor Columbus
- The Secretary of State Client Services Center: 30 East Broad Street, Columbus
- The Board of Elections office in your county (It is always listed in the phone book under “Government Offices – County.”) Click here for a listing of County Boards of Elections
- Any Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles office or BMV registrar
- Any public or vocational school
- Public libraries
- Your County Treasurer’s office
- The Ohio Democratic Party headquarters: 271 E. State St., Columbus, OH 43215
- You may also be able to register at sites such as: union-affiliated offices, or at get-out-to-vote rallies at special locations
